Ms. Susan Mochache,  PS Social Protection

Ms. Susan Mochache, Principal Secretary State Department of Social Protection was born in 1973. She is married and they are blessed with two children.

She is a versatile professional with diverse leadership and management skills developed over a career spanning 21 years in both private and public sectors. She has worked in several private firms including Safaricom Limited for five years before joining the regulator, Communications Authority of Kenya.  During her tenure at the Authority, she accomplished notable national initiatives that transformed the telecommunication sector and its contribution to socio-economic development in Kenya. 

These include the establishment of a legal and regulatory framework for the Universal Service Fund and the implementation of rural telecommunication projects that provide access to un-served and under-served areas as well as to marginalized communities. 


She was a member of the project team that successfully spearheaded key government infrastructure projects, The East African Submarine System (TEAMS) and the National Optic Fibre Backbone Infrastructure that are credited for the Country’s expanded access and affordability to internet services.  Ms. Mochache is credited for establishing the Statistics department at the Authority and in collaboration with the National Bureau of Statistics championed National ICT surveys.  She chaired the national steering committee that developed Kenya’ s National Broadband Strategy.

Ms. Susan Mochache is a Chevening Scholar having being awarded the United Kingdom Government Scholarship in 2008 and a Professional Fellow of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission 2012.

 She holds a Masters of Science Degree in Communications Management from the University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Science in International Business from the United States International University. She has undertaken various leadership and management programs both locally and abroad including a Negotiations Program at Harvard University, Change Management at RIPA International in London, Strategy in Action at Strathmore University, PPP Strategies Methods, and Project structuring Techniques from The Institute of Public Private Partnership USA, the locally renowned Fast Forward Leadership Program amongst others.  She is a certified practitioner in Prince 2, Project Management and MSP, Programme Management.
