KENYA AND GERMANY DELEGATION

KENYA AND GERMANY HOLD INAUGURAL JOINT COMMITTEE MEETING ON MIGRATION AND MOBILITY PARTNERSHIP

The inaugural meeting of the Joint Implementation Committee on the Comprehensive Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement, between the Government of the Republic of Kenya and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, marked an important milestone in strengthening bilateral relations. Held in a hybrid format, the session was attended by Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Labour and Skills Development Principal Secretary, Shadrack Mwadime alongside the Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, Roseline Njogu, together with senior officials and experts from both governments.
The discussions focused on reviewing progress, aligning priorities, and charting practical pathways for collaboration under the framework of the agreement. At the heart of the deliberations was a shared commitment to ensuring that migration becomes a driver of opportunity—fostering skills development, protecting the rights of workers, and addressing the needs of both countries in a structured, sustainable way.
Beyond the policy dialogue, the meeting reflected the human side of migration, acknowledging the aspirations of young people, professionals, and families whose lives are directly shaped by these agreements. The atmosphere was one of partnership and mutual respect, as both delegations emphasized the potential of mobility to create economic growth, deepen cultural ties, and strengthen people-to-people connections. With this inaugural meeting, Kenya and Germany demonstrated their collective resolve not only to manage migration responsibly but also to harness it as a tool for shared prosperity and human dignity.
