Employment and Labour Relations Annual Symposium and Exhibition (Elrase 2)
The Principal Secretary State Department for Labour and Skills Development urged stakeholders in the labour sector to play their roles diligently in ensuring eradication of all forms of violence and harassment in their workplaces. He said this when he addressed the stakeholders during the closing of the second Employment and Labour Relations Annual Symposium and Exhibition (Elrase 2) at the University of Nairobi's Chandaria Hall.
The three-day symposium, organized by the Judiciary, focused on critical issues concerning human rights, safety and health of workers, and general wellbeing of workers in Kenya, according to the PS, these are matters that resonate very well with the government on the journey towards ratification of International Labour Organization Convention No. 190 on violence and accompanying Recommendation No. 206.
He challenged the organizers to take their next symposium to the ground where they can have the opportunity to interact with the public and apprise wananchi on their rights. "Where human dignity is upheld, the people are capable of exploiting their potential to the maximum".
